WHAT IS THE "CSRA FGC"?
The CSRA FGC (Central Savannah River Area Fighting Game Community) is a small not-for-profit company I helped create in June of 2021. It is a small volunteer-based business run out of Augusta, GA with the expressed purpose of organizing, running, and livestreaming eSports tournaments local to the Augusta area, particularly focusing on fighting games such as Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Guilty Gear Strive, Street Fighter V and others.
CSRA FGC came about after a conversation with some local competitive gaming groups. When COVID-19 hit our city in 2020, a lot of the local venues and scenes that allowed us to host eSports tournaments were forced to shut down or close their doors to larger parties. Our local fighting game scene had also never had a sense of cohesion or consistency-- it was made up of several smaller factions with little pop-up events here and there. Games that were being played were often separated from each other instead of being held in the same venue. The people running them never stayed around long, and often ran into disagreements with others on how to run things.
That's when we got to thinking, what if we just made our own company? We would have complete control on where and when tournaments would be held, what games would be played there, and how these events would be advertised and ran.
Thus, the CSRA FGC was born.
Our team is made up of former competitors, tournament organizers, and previous eSports company operators. Altogether, we work as a cohesive unit to plan, create, and operate these events.
MY ROLE IN THE PROGRAM
As a former competitor, I have a great desire to provide everyone at our tourneys with a premier fighting game experience, and allow them opportunities to grow to the top of their abilities in their game of choice. I no longer compete myself, instead spending more of my time on video related hobbies and graphic design for my primary job at News 12/26. Lucky for me, many of my strengths are able to shine through in work that I do for the CSRA FGC.
I am the CSRA FGC's primary video editor and graphic designer. I am responsible for designing most of the resources needed to advertise and run tournaments, including (but not limited to): logos, posters, video advertisements, social media posts, YouTube thumbnails, as well as digital streaming overlays and layouts. You can check out some of the work I have created below:

STAGE LIST CARD
A card depicting the rules of play for a Smash Bros. Ultimate tournament, and how to properly pick stages. These are taped to every station in the tournament venue.
All in all, I am proud of the work I have done and continue to do for the CSRA FGC. My team works extremely hard to provide the best possible tournament experience to patrons, and in just the short time we've been operating, we've seen an overwhelmingly positive response in both attendance and viewership compared to previous endeavors taken by former groups. Overall, our attendance ranges from 30 to 40 entrants on average, an almost 203% increase from previous tournaments run by others in the area that saw an average of 14 to 19 entrants. Our livestream usually pulls in around 50 to 60 viewers per tournament, with some outlying instances seeing 100 viewers. We continue to grow every day, and I look forward to seeing where we will be a year from now!
